The Party is over, time to move on…

October 7, 2008 · 5 Comments

We are now less than a month away from the presidential and local elections. For 7 months now I have been trying to convince others that both mainstream parties are in concert to destroy America. I called it ‘Two Parties, One Goal’at one time.

I called for everyone not to vote Republican or Democrat and I gave my reasons why I thought you should choose to vote for third party or independent candidates. I pointed to Project VoteSmart that would help you to vote wisely. I highlighted the attacks on the Bill of Rights and I snarked about the hypocrisy in both mainstream political parties.

I proffered new constitutional amendments that would permit the Constitution to keep pace with technology and protect the privacy of Americans. I offered amendments that would permit your State to have more of a voice in federal government and would make it more difficult for the Republican and Democrat Party machinery to control America. I ranted about the Federal States of America vs the United States of America.

But now we are 30 days from the single most important election in your lifetime to protect the Constitution and the United States of America. If you have not absorbed what I have said, I cannot help you and you will not help America. The python of national security will soon tighten upon all of us and I hope that you understand what that will mean for your children. Permanent surveillance, permanent loss of privacy, and permanent records of your children’s lives will be the result.

Now is the time for me to stop expressing myself and allow you to read and think for yourself. It is time for you to listen to others and judge for yourself what it is right for America and for you.

My posts have brought equal parts joy and frustration to me. I have tried to bring to you a reasonable view of current events, a reasonable view of what America should be about, and  a reasonable view of what citizens should be questioning within our government. But now is the time for me to stop talking.

I point you to my blogroll and recommend that you visit these sites from time to time. I recommend that you seriously think through who you will vote for and why you are voting for them. Every time you vote, you should consider ‘what does America need now and which candidate will provide that’. I believe that the answer lies outside of the mainstream party process and encourage you to consider independents and third party candidates in your voting choices.

Thanks to my loyal readers. You can always reach me at kindlingman@yahoo.com if you have something that you think I might be interested in.

Please remember to ‘Vote Responsibly and Save America in 2008′.

Brick #23 NSS: Limit political speech

October 7, 2008 · 3 Comments

Now the radicals in government want to impose more limits on free speech. This time they go after politicians, your elected representatives.

Members of the House will be permitted to use third-party Web sites like YouTube to communicate with constituents as long as the content is for official purposes, and not personal, commercial or campaign communication, according to rules adopted Thursday by the House Administration Committee.

This is like telling Thomas Jefferson or Benjamin Franklin which newspapers he could use to publish which articles or which street corners, salons, taverns, and dining establishments he could frequent to promulgate his views. I see nothing wrong with Senators using any third party media as long as it is outside of the main web site for governmental purposes.

One plan by Rep. Michael Capuano, D-Mass., who chairs the commission charged with drafting the language for the Administration Committee, was slammed by Minority Leader Boehner in July as “an attack on free speech.”

We must allow our elected leaders the same freedoms that you and I enjoy. This is America.

But new rules were established for using the government-supplied web sites and this is very acceptable in order to maintain decorum and consistency for our government. But when it extends to third party web sites, it becomes unacceptable.

“When a link to a Web site outside the member’s official site is embedded on the member’s official site, the member’s site must include an exit notice advising the visitor when they are leaving the House,” the rules state. “This exit notice must also include a disclaimer that neither the member nor the House is responsible for the content of the linked site(s).” (Ed.note: Acceptable)

The Senate regulations go further by creating a “nonexhaustive list” of approved sites that must agree to disclose when content is maintained by a Senate office. (Ed. Note: Not Acceptable)

For the Senate, third-party sites would also be banned from adding commercial or political material or links to an office-maintained page, and would be banned from using data-gathering tools on a Senate-maintained page that collect and distribute personal information on users. ( Ed. Note : Totally unacceptable on the first point and totally acceptable on the second.)

Save America and Vote Responsibly in 2008. Keep America free.

Cynthia McKinney gets her game on…

October 7, 2008 · 3 Comments

The Green Party presidential candidate, Cynthia McKinney, is relatively unknown by many of us. Our total exposure to Ms. McKinney is likely when she smacked a congressional guard who (allegedly) did not recognize her and she (allegedy) did not identify herself. (I think I have that straight)

Ms. McKinney has sent a letter to her supporters about the financial mess. Her letter makes three points that I also make:

1. There is no difference between the deeds of Republicans and Democrats

2. Nancy Pelosi is a terrible Speaker of the House

3. Election integrity is being challenged by electronic voting machines

Ms. McKinney’s letter also lays out her 14 point financial plan for restoration of America. I am not convinced that her 14 point plan has value when the need to prevent a credit-availability problem was so immediate. And I am not convinced that the federalization of everything is the answer either. But I give her a kudo for putting it on paper and taking a stand.

Here is what she said about Ms. Pelosi:

In light of the tremendously important election this year, she could have insisted on enacting some measure of election integrity to prevent another election being held where the announced outcome is truly in doubt. But she did not.

She could have taken her seat at the table as the one player in the room with the winning hand, but she did not.

Instead, she assumed the position of the beautiful girl in the short skirt holding the platter of drinks, serving the men at the table. She could have been the leader and spokesperson for us all, but she is not.

I do not support Ms. McKinney’s positions on almost any issue, however, she has put herself out there for the people to judge her by her frank talk. She is the American citizen in action whether we agree with her or not.

Give her letter a read. She is a genuine article in American democracy.
