Each year we are barraged with evil. Some of it comes from anger or petulance or bitterness or loneliness or stubbornheadedness or a small-minded perspective of the world. Some of it comes from hatred, too.
And for those who see the evil that is created by mankind, there is one day each year in which we hope that evil will be overcome. Christmas Day.
The older we become the more we realize that evil is not a thought, a beverage, a mythical being, or the nature of man. While evil may have many origins, evil is a human action that purposefully causes harm to others. It is an act that is under the control of each of us. Me as well as you.
It is the hope of Christmas that mankind will one day choose to do no evil.
Make a pledge to yourself this year that you will not harm another person on purpose. And if you harm someone accidentally, tell them you are sorry or they may think you did it on purpose.
The Christmas Hope is for mankind to stop harming others.
Pledge to do your part. If you cannot do it forever, then pledge ‘no harm’ for a day.
I believe in you and in the Christmas Hope.
