Journalist Beef Inspectors

January 5, 2009 · Leave a Comment

What do the vaunted news media and beef inspectors have in common? They seek tainted meat.

In the previous post of Roland Burris’ press conference today, it was easy to see that the media considered Roland Burris tainted meat. Tainted because Rod Blagojevich chose Mr. Burris to fill Sen. Obama’s vacant seat. Tainted. Imagine that. Tainted by a scandal that did not involve Mr. Burris at all.

If you watched the video, you know that most questions implied that there is a belief that Mr. Burris is guilty of associating with Rod Blagojevich and that, by definition,  Mr. Burris should feel guilty or have some ego problem because  he has taken this appointment.

Balderdash.

I hope the Senate moves quickly to confirm Mr. Burris and puts the Blagojevich scandal where it belongs:  with Patrick Fitzgerald for the crime and the Illinois legislature for the ethics problem.

Impeach Blago, accept Burris appointment, and be done with this imbroglio.

There are plenty of other places for the journalists to seek real tainted meat. Let’s hope they find it.
